Discussion of what two famous bible tales can tell us about conflict and possibilities when two or more communities attempt to share the same space. Rereading Exodus Along the Anacostia looks at the Exodus story itself (beginning with Exodus 1:1) and the Joseph story (Genesis 37, 39-50) which leads into it, exploring ways that the text can help us address oppression and envision new ways to get ourselves — all of us — out from under the millstone of racism, inequality, and militarism.
Here are a few excerpts from the book with relevance to DC, and many other places, today.
Rereading Exodus Along the Anacostia is published by Charnice Milton Community Bookstore to help foster important community conversations.
